Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

02/26/2020 branding_basics

Pay it forward this Earth Day with easy tips to help your brand make the world a better place.

It’s no secret that support for eco-friendly products and brands is on the rise. Learn more about how creating an eco-friendly business can help the environment, save money and boost brand recognition and reputation.

Creating an Eco-Friendly Brand

In 2020, people expect eco-mindedness from businesses. Creating an Eco-Friendly brand is crucial and can completely transform your business. Learn more about how you can improve your brand with green initiatives.

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!

Ditch the trash! Provide recycling bins and encourage employees to be thoughtful with their paper usage and encourage online alternatives. Limiting your paper use can drastically cut your office supply costs and limit landfill waste.

Update Outdated Appliances

Upgrading to Energy Star appliances can help you limit and assess how much energy your business is using. It is also a good idea to update your lighting with compact-fluorescent or LED lights. They both have a higher purchase price than normal incandescent bulbs, but they last significantly longer and will save you money long-term.

Rethink Packaging

When it comes to packaging, less is more. Using multiple layers of unnecessary plastic, Styrofoam, cardboard can hurt the environment and your budget. When possible, try eliminating excess packaging or opting for eco-friendly solutions like biodegradable or plant-based materials.

Get Customers Involved

Getting your customers involved is a great way to show the world your eco-friendly efforts. Try offering your customers opportunities to earn discounts by participating in your green initiative. This can be as simple as offering a discount or deal on their next purchase to show your appreciation and boost brand loyalty.

Eco-Friendly Promotional Products

Choosing eco-friendly promotional products can have surprising benefits. For instance, the Advertising Specialty Institute reported that 42% of people in the United States have a more favorable opinion of an advertiser if the promotional product they received was environmentally friendly. Get inspired and check out some of our favorite eco-friendly products.

Zero Waste to Landfill

We found success with our Zero Waste to Landfill initiative to achieve zero-landfill status. We started in 2017 with some simple steps like removing personal trash cans from personnel’s desk and switched to recycling tubs and eliminated our plastic trash can liners use. Since then, Staples Promotional Products has gone from 109.62 tons to only 51 tons in 2019. We are still coming up with creative solutions to reduce our waste and hope to be zero waste by the end of 2020. You can learn more about our success by reading SPP Goes Zero Waste to Landfill
